Mon agenda s'est bien allégé pour ce printemps ;-) Donc quand Julie @builtaquilt m'a demandé si j'étais disposée à tester son nouveau modèle, j'ai été ravie d'accepter. J'ai choisi l'option Baby quilt. Je sais, je sais ... le choix le plus simple quand on teste un modèle ... ;-)
I chose a very different palette from Julie's original version. I did it on purpose because I like to show the versatility of a pattern. I had a lot of fun thinking about a fabric pull and piecing my project. And on top of that I'm really happy with how my version turned out !
J'ai choisi une palette très différente de la version originale de Julie. Je l'ai fait volontairement car j'aime montrer l'adaptabilité d'un modèle. J'ai eu beaucoup de plaisir à réfléchir au choix de tissu et à assembler mon projet. Et en plus, je suis vraiment contente du résultat !
I traced the templates at the finished size on Freezer Paper. I ironed the templates on to the right side of the fabric and then cut around adding a 1/4" seam allowance.
J'ai tracé mes gabarits à la taille fini sur du Freezer Paper. Je les ai collés sur le bon côté du tissu et ensuite j'ai coupé autour en ajoutant un quart d'inch de marge de couture.

I had to customize a bit the pattern since I absolutely wanted to use one of the Bubble Letters prints for the background. They are from a collection designed by Latifah Saafir, Double Dutch Fabric. They were in my stash for a couple of years, waiting for the right project. And the time had come ! Even if I knew I was short of both I could not get that idea out of my head ... :-) And then I did a few maths and combined the two colorways of this print instead of using one fabric for the background. I also had to slightly reduce the width of the borders for the same reason. I have always been an optimistic when it comes to fabric quantity required for a project ...
J'ai dû un peu customiser le modèle car je voulais absolument utiliser un des deux imprimés Bubble Letters pour le fond. Ils font partie d'une collection dessinée par Latifah Saafir, Double Dutch Fabric. Ils étaient dans mon stock depuis quelques temps, attendant le bon projet. Et ce moment était arrivé ! Même si je savais que je n'en avais pas assez, je n'ai pas pu me l'enlever de la tête ... :-) Et donc j'ai fait quelques calculs et combiné les deux coloris de cet imprimé au lieu d'utiliser un seul tissu pour le fond. J'ai aussi dû réduire légèrement la largeur des bordures pour la même raison. J'ai toujours été une optimiste pour la quantité de tissu nécessaire à un projet ...
This pattern, Piers, should be available at the end of May on Julie's website. I had tested the pattern for her Mountains and Valleys quilt back in 2018 as well. You can see here the Baby quilt size and here, Pink Invaders a wall hanging I made from the same block.
